North MO sweeps MINK weekly awards

For the first time since joining the MINK League, the North Missouri Nattys have a pair of weekly award winners. Landon Wells is the league pitcher of the week, while Isaac Fanoga earned player of the week honors. The two gave the Nattys a shot in the arm as they took two out of three at home against Chillicothe last week.

Isaac Fanoga, Nattys

Fanoga batted .600 with a .778 on-base percentage with three doubles and four RBIs during the week for North Missouri.

The catcher walked and doubled while calling a near-flawless game behind the plate for the Nattys. The Mudcats managed just two runs on four hits to open the three-game set. In the series finale, Fanoga doubled home the go-ahead run with two out in the second inning as North Missouri broke the game open en route to a 12-2 win.

Fanoga also showed some versatility in a Friday game against Carroll, logging a couple innings at shortstop. He has played error-free baseball through 11 games this season, while raising his batting average to .286.

Landon Wells, Nattys

Wells delivered his best outing of the young season in a 3-2 win over Chillicothe. The King City, MO native struck out a season-best 11 across seven and one-third innings to earn his first victory of the summer.

Wells scattered three hits – a single in the second inning, a double in the third and a lead-off single in the seventh, and didn't surrender a run until the eighth thanks to a walk and an error.

The June 15 start was the first for Wells in more than two weeks, and he provided the Nattys with the outing they needed.
