Ball, Pinckney nab MINK League weekly honors

The Chillicothe's reign continued with the MINK League Player of the Week, while a Carroll pitcher earned the weekly award for the first time this summer. Jarian Pinckney's efforts at the plate earned the honor for the second time in three weeks, with teammate Jordi Ventura also bringin it in on June 24. Chandler Ball stepped up with a win and a save last week and aided the Merchants on their current four-game win streak.

Jarian Pinckney, Mudcats

Pinckney had a pair of multi-hit games in June prior to last week. He ended the month with four multi-hit performances in the final four games of the month. The Andrews, SC native batted .579 (11-19) with a home run, three RBIs, seven runs scored, seven stolen bases and a .619 on-base percentage.

Pinckney opened the week with a three-for-three night at the plate with three runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases in a 7-6 win over St. Joseph. He tacked on his second three-hit night of the season a couple days later against Carroll. Pinckney came through with two games with a pair of knocks, including in a 5-1 win at Clarinda that featured his second home run of the summer. In total, Chillicothe posted a 5-2 week behind the outfielder's efforts.

Chandler Ball, Merchants

Ball has been the stopper time and again for Carroll through the first half of the season. The righty from Madison, GA has yet to start a game for the Merchants, but owns a 2-0 record with 2.25 ERA in seven appearances.

He began the previous week tossing a season-high five and one-third innings out of the bullpen against Jefferson City. Ball was masterful giving up one hit, walking two, and striking out seven to preserve a 5-0 win. He returned to the mound three nights later in a tight battle with St. Joseph. Ball entered in the eighth with the Merchants clinging to a three-run advantage and shut the door on the Mustangs with four strikeouts across two innings, one earned run allowed and captured his first save of the summer.

Ball is the first Carroll hurler named pitcher of the week, and second Merchant to win a weekly honor along with teammate Gavin Gonzalez.
