Feist, Ventura garner MINK recognition

One of the league's most consistent hitters and the hurler that set the tone in the second no-hitter of the summer college baseball season earned recognition for their efforts. Chillicothe's Jordi Ventura was named MINK Player of the Week, and Jefferson City's Canon Feist is the league pitcher of the week. Ventura and Feist put together stand-out performances that kept their teams in the thick of the playoff race as June winds down.

Jordi Ventura, Mudcats

All Ventura has done for Chillicothe since sliding into the lineup on May 30 is hit. The utility player put it on full display last week batting .353 (6-17) with four RBIs, six runs scored, and piling up four extra-base hits.

The native of the Dominican Republic started the week going 2-5 with his first home run of the summer in a win over Nevada. Three nights later, he racked up three hits, including his first triple as a Mudcat, in a victory against Sedalia.

Ventura's shown plenty of versatility for Chillicothe, too, being penciled in as an outfielder, shortstop, designated hitter, and even pitcher. He finished his sophomore season at North Central Missouri College in the spring batting .366 with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs. He's the second Mudcat in as many weeks to win league player of the week following teammate Jarian Pinckney.

Ventura will play for Northwest Missouri State University beginning in 2026.

Canon Feist, Renegades

Feist made the most of his second start of the summer in Sedalia. The Jefferson City right-handed pitcher delivered six strikeouts and walked two across five innings as the Renegades threw a combined no-hitter against the Bombers.

Feist worked around a one-out walk in the second inning and a lead-off walk in the third inning to keep zeroes across the board for Sedalia. He induced four groundball outs and five fly outs in the win. It marks the second no-hitter of the summer in the MINK League following the June 17 pitcher of the week, Noah Benavides.

The start was Feist's second of the summer, and his third appearance overall. Feist is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts. The pitcher from Lubbock, TX completed his freshman season at Lincoln University in Jefferson City in the spring.
